As Joyful Readers AmeriCorps members work closely with children, we are required to conduct a thorough criminal background check before your service can begin, which includes an FBI fingerprint search. Individuals who have been convicted of murder or who are registered on a sex offender registry are not eligible for an AmeriCorps position. Please note that, other than in these two circumstances, a criminal record will not automatically disqualify an applicant. Each case is reviewed individually.
